Saturday, October 24

On Saturday night, the Classes of 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, and 2021 will gather for an on-campus reunion party, where we’ll share laughs, enjoy delicious bites and libations, and reconnect with old friends. The doors open at 6:00 pm, and student-led campus tours will be available beforehand, starting at 4:45.

A room block at the Newport News Marriott at City Center is available for reservations for the nights of October 23 and 24 at a special group rate of $229.00 per night. Book your room online here, or call 866-329-1758 and ask for the HRA Homecoming room block. Make your reservation today! The group rate will be available until September 20 or until the block is full—whichever comes first.

The Class of 1971

In June 2026, the Class of 1971 enjoyed a joint reunion party with the Classes of 1972 and 1973. Lots of stories were traded and relived, old friendships were renewed (in spite of sometimes fuzzy memories), a few lies were retold (perhaps embellished), a couple of hatchets were buried, and everyone had a blast. And those who couldn’t make it were truly missed. A huge thank you to Kelly and Howard Hankins for hosting!

This fall, we invite everyone in our class to keep the fun going and join their fellow HRA graduates on campus for the annual All-Alumni Tailgate at 5:00 pm on Friday, October 23, followed by the Homecoming varsity football game at 6:30.

Then, the evening of Saturday, October 24, we’ll return to campus for a reunion party for all the “one” and “six” classes at 6:00 pm. Students will lead campus tours before the doors open, starting at 4:45.

The Class of 1981

The HRA Class of 1981 will gather on campus for their 45th reunion during this fall’s Homecoming weekend.

We encourage everyone to attend the Friday, October 23, All-Alumni Tailgate party, which starts at 5:00 and will feature the singular guitar/vocal harmonies of our own Doug Parsons! George Shield and Karen Hastings, among many other folks (including Max Gillespie, Whit Rutter and possibly Jim Holt!), have joined the growing list of honorary tailgate party hosts!

The football game starts at 6:30, and an all-alumni field line-up will take place at halftime. Come enjoy HRA’s new dining hall (adjacent to the stadium), the nearby picnic area, and the fine culinary creations of our own Chef Uwe Schluszas and his exceptional staff.

We invite you all to join us for our 45th reunion back on campus on Saturday, October 24th. Campus tours, given by student ambassadors, are available at 4:45. The reunion gatherings for classes ending in 1’s and 6’s will begin in the dining hall at 6:00 pm. Details on how to sign up will be forthcoming.

We encourage everyone to attend the All-Alumni Tailgate Party on Friday, October 23, beginning at 5:00 pm. The evening will feature the guitar and vocal harmonies of HRA’s own Doug Parsons ’81, along with a growing list of honorary tailgate party hosts.
