Excellent school! The teachers are all amazing. The class rooms are small so the teachers can pay attention to all kid. And they are ALL friendly and sincere. We spent only 2 years there, but no complaints!!!

I went to Hampton Roads Academy from 6th to 12th grade. It definitely prepared me well for college. I am about to graduate with a B.S. in computer science and the foundation HRA gave me has been extremely helpful

We have been so pleased with the instruction and learning environment at HRA. The teachers are passionate about what they teach, firm, fair and kind. Our kids are getting deep mastery of each subject. I love the values of this school. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful school. Our son has thrived at HRA. The school not only has superior academics, but makes a concerted effort to build the student’s moral character. As one example, the honor code is very much emphasized. None of the student lockers have locks on them.

HRA is a beautiful and a very safe school. This is our second and final year here. Needless to say we love this school. It has great teachers and staff, good athletics and nice school spirit. My son was somewhat of an introvert and had difficulty socializing before this school. We were also worried about bullying at other schools. HRA helped our son greatly in improving his self confidence and talking to other people. Early on, whenever we’d ask how school went, on any given day, his responses used to be very brief, focused mainly on academics. One day he came back home from school and he said he made some new friends during lunch. His eyes was shining. He kept talking and talking about what they talked about during lunch, the jokes and the fun they had that day. It’s been several months now and everyday during dinner he tells us stories from school and how he enjoys spending time with his new friends. For me, social and emotional development of a kid is as important as academics. We are very grateful as parents for the social and practical skills our son gained at HRA. Over time he was involved with a bit of theater and music.

The kind, loving teachers and administrators at HRA have made our family and our sweet son feel welcome since day 1 on campus, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with our decision to be part of this academic community. From the small class sizes to the emphasis on educating the whole child in and out of the classroom, HRA is worth at least twice as much as the tuition they charge.

HRA has been a great experience for our children. Rigorous academics, a safe, caring, and enriching environment, as well as outstanding college counseling, leaves no doubt in my mind that HRA is the right choice for our family.

Our son has been at HRA for 3 years and we cannot be happier with our decision to have him attend. The entire staff have proven to be exceptional. That, combined with the small class sizes, has provided a wonderful educational experience.

This is our daughter’s first year at HRA and we couldn’t be more pleased. Our daughter is being enriched and challenged both academically and artistically( theatre, art and music are her passion’s.) Starting a new school in the 10th grade is not always easy but the students, administration and faculty have made our daughter feel like part of the HRA family since day one. HRA is a wonderful school and a positive, inclusive and enriching environment! We are so happy to be part of the Navigator family!

Our boys are entering their 6th year at HRA (8th and 10th grades) and I realized once again what a great decision we have made when they came home from the “dreaded” first day of school yesterday – all smiles and raving about new kids, old friends, soccer coaches and art and violin teachers. My 10th grade all-boy jock was so excited about his ceramics class and the 8th grade future sports commentator absolutely adores his violin class. Something tells me this is special!

HRA has provided my children a complete education. Academically, they have had excellent teachers who work hard to make sure that their students master their subjects. In the classroom and on the athletics field, teachers, administrators and coaches have high standards of character and behavior for all students and work to develop the whole person. The importance of a strong community is evident in every area of the school. My children’s choices and opportunities reflect the strong, positive impact of their experience at HRA.

We have had two children graduate from HRA in the last few years. They are thriving in college and felt very prepared for the academics. The teachers and administration care about each student and the opportunities are endless for the students. The school is always looking to the future and how it can continue to serve the students in our fast changing world.

As an HRA graduate, and a parent of a recent graduate and current student, I can honestly say that I have valued the entire education experience that my children and I have received at Hampton Roads Academy. HRA helps establish a great foundation for each student through a wonderful mix of academics, athletics, arts and community engagement. This foundation supports HRA graduates as they seamlessly transition into college and into their career paths.

I had great experiences at HRA. The environment was very inclusive and I felt academically prepared when I went to college.

My 3 grandchildren, who all began their HRA experience in pre-K and are now scattered across the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools, have all thrived in the extraordinary educational atmosphere found at HRA, with its rich academic culture. In addition, they have enjoyed participating in the arts and athletic programs as well, becoming very well-rounded in the environment of excellence at HRA. On a personal note, I love seeing the close friendships form, not only among the students, but also between the families as well. I couldn’t ask for a better place for my grandchildren to spend their formative years. 5 stars!

HRA is a great place to send your kids. My son graduated in 2014, and he was very prepared for college. HRA did a great job getting him ready. He also got a Division 1 Scholarship for Lacrosse which was also a result from his All State Honors on field and a HRA State Title. We cannot say enough about the great experience we had there.

We are now entering our 7th year as HRA parents and have had great experiences on both the academic and social sides. Our kids have great friends (as do we) who strive to do well in class. The college counseling program is outstanding, as we are now seeing first-hand with our junior. It’s well worth the commute from Williamsburg.

Organized, classy and very professional staff. My granddaughters are learning a lot, I’m guessing two grades ahead of public schools.

The most amazing school in Hampton Roads. You truly get what you pay for!!!

Caring teachers, small class size, opportunities to learn new sports, languages and the arts. HRA is worth every penny.
