  • Chemistry Teacher

    BASIC DESCRIPTION:
    The applicant must have a clear understanding and experience delivering an AP Chemistry, Honors Chemistry, and General Chemistry curriculum.  This teacher should demonstrate a passion for chemistry and a creative enthusiasm which inspires young learners.  Excellent communication skills are essential.  The position also requires a professional who understands the importance of providing rigorous instruction in a nurturing environment. Any wider, flexible experience teaching other subjects and/or demonstrated interest in research would be considered an advantage for the right candidate.

  • Lower School Administrative Assistant

    Hampton Roads Academy seeks a talented, creative individual with an energetic spirit who works well collaboratively and who values and supports the school’s overall mission.  The applicant must have a clear understanding and experience working with elementary age children.  This person should demonstrate effective communication and organizational skills as well as a complete understanding of various computer programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. The position requires a dedicated professional who understands the importance of working in a nurturing, fast-paced environment.  The start date for this position is June 1, 2024.
    Essential Duties:
    • Effectively manage the Lower School Office.
    • Manage daily attendance, lunch ordering, drill records as well as division files.
    • Order division supplies and textbooks. 
    • Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with LS staff, students as well as students’ parents.
    • Maintain careful records.
    • Carefully supervise and assure student safety on a daily basis. 
    • Engage in the school community. 
    Job Qualifications:
    • Preferably a B.A.
    • Four + years office experience.
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Middle School Social Studies Teacher

    Hampton Roads Academy is searching for an experienced middle school Social Studies teacher. The successful candidate will motivate students toward an enthusiasm for learning.  

    We are looking for a teacher and colleague who understands and appreciates the developmental learning needs and social emotional needs of the middle school child. A teacher who is approachable, engaging, organized, sensitive and disciplined will be most successful in this position.  HRA is an iPad 1:1 school that uses technology to support the learning experience. The primary focus remains on a very strong and rewarding student to teacher connection inside and outside the classroom.  Our goal is to attract and retain a colleague who engages thoroughly with our learning community and who is eager to participate in the larger life of the school (as advisor, coach, club sponsor, etc.). A sense of humor would also be warmly welcomed.  Special consideration will be given to applicants who are enthusiastic about athletic coaching at HRA.

  • Advancement Associate and Database Coordinator

    Summary of Responsibilities:
     
    Support the operational needs and programs of the Hampton Roads Academy Advancement Department. Assist in all Advancement donor events. Process all gifts and pledges and maintain the donor database.  Manage financial record keeping and reports for all fundraising accounts. Highly skilled in MS Office Suite and Google Suite.
     
    Essential Functions:
     
    • Assists the Advancement Office with operations and data management by overseeing the daily functions of Raiser’s Edge and related applications.
    • Oversees the implementation of data entry standards and best practices.
    • Responsible for database cleanup, the overall accuracy, integrity and reliability of alumni/donor data, donor data management systems, and reporting processes.
    • Designs, builds, and delivers qualitative queries, reports, and lists to facilitate the work of the Advancement Office.
    • Maintains confidentiality regarding all gifts and other office assignments.
    • Assists the Advancement Office with all events.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
     
    Preferred Experience and Skills:
     
    • Experience with donor data systems, preferably Blackbaud data systems.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and challenging deadlines.
    • Resourceful, critical thinker who uses sound judgement and can problem-solve.
    • Experience importing and exporting data.
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to data integrity and quality of work.
    • Flexible and willing to teach others.
    • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and perform as a team player.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Extended Care & Enrichment program offers exciting opportunities which enhance the student experience at HRA for the varying ages. Our program offers superior care by providing quality interactions between staff and students, while the policies, experiences and activities promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development in our students. Professional development and training are provided throughout the year. We require creative and talented individuals who love working with children. Experience working with children is recommended.   • Substitute Teacher

    Hampton Roads Academy is looking for energetic and engaging substitute teachers to work with students of all levels, from pre-kindergarten to high school. The most successful candidates will be detail-oriented and enjoy working with children. Official experience and/or a state teaching license is welcome but not required. Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check and be comfortable with all current COVID-19 policies.

    Daily Substitute: $110/day
    Long Term Substitute: $135/day
