  • Advancement Associate and Database Coordinator

    Summary of Responsibilities:
     
    Support the operational needs and programs of the Hampton Roads Academy Advancement Department. Assist in all Advancement donor events. Process all gifts and pledges and maintain the donor database.  Manage financial record keeping and reports for all fundraising accounts. Highly skilled in MS Office Suite and Google Suite.
     
    Essential Functions:
     
    • Assists the Advancement Office with operations and data management by overseeing the daily functions of Raiser’s Edge and related applications.
    • Oversees the implementation of data entry standards and best practices.
    • Responsible for database cleanup, the overall accuracy, integrity and reliability of alumni/donor data, donor data management systems, and reporting processes.
    • Designs, builds, and delivers qualitative queries, reports, and lists to facilitate the work of the Advancement Office.
    • Maintains confidentiality regarding all gifts and other office assignments.
    • Assists the Advancement Office with all events.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
     
    Preferred Experience and Skills:
     
    • Experience with donor data systems, preferably Blackbaud data systems.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities and challenging deadlines.
    • Resourceful, critical thinker who uses sound judgement and can problem-solve.
    • Experience importing and exporting data.

  • Substitute Teacher

    Hampton Roads Academy is looking for energetic and engaging substitute teachers to work with students of all levels, from pre-kindergarten to high school. The most successful candidates will be detail-oriented and enjoy working with children. Official experience and/or a state teaching license is welcome but not required. Successful candidates will have to undergo a background check and be comfortable with all current COVID-19 policies.

    Daily Substitute: $110/day
    Long Term Substitute: $135/day

  • Summer Camp Counselor

    Position:  Summer Camp Counselor
     
    Qualifications:  The ability to relate well to children and adults, including parents, staff members, and visitors is required.  Experience working with groups of children from preschool to fifth grade is desired but not necessary as training will be given.
     
    The Camp Counselor must be able to lead and actively participate in sports/games with children, be able to effectively monitor behavior while using appropriate discipline techniques, and develop age-appropriate activities. This position is responsible for helping to maintain a safe, clean summer program site, ensuring a high level of program quality, and working to establish a positive relationship with all program participants and their families. The Camp Counselor will provide a positive role model to youth and teens within the philosophy of HRA Summer Camp standards and expectations. This will be done under the direction of the Director of Ancillary Programs.
     
    1.            Minimum of 18 years of age.
    2.            Experience working with children in a supervised setting is preferred but training will be given.
    3.            Proof of a negative TB test within the last two years.
    4.            Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED prior to the first day of working camp.
    5.            Complete and maintain required trainings to include but not limited to: New Employee Orientation, Daily Health Observation, and other training as assigned.
    6.            Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check, sex offender registry, and Child Protective Services check.
     
     
    Responsibilities:  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
     
    1.  Arrive to work on time, as scheduled, ready to work.
    2. Supervise the children, with a priority in their safety, always following risk management policies.
    3. Participate and encourage positive participation of all students in daily activities and events.
    4. Responsible for care of all facilities, equipment, and supplies.
    5. Prepare and maintain necessary supplies and stay within budget guidelines.
    6. Communicate with parents, co-workers, and supervisor about incidents involving children’s behaviors, learning issues, or other problems.
    7. Attend staff meetings, mandatory trainings, and other HRA events.
    8. Follow HRA policies and procedures.
    9. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
